Questions? We've got answers!

  • Who will be my mentor and how will I be matched?
Depending on your application, you will be matched with a university-level STEM student or professional who is currently pursuing a career in STEM. We will match you with a mentor based on your academic background, values, interests, preferences, and overall compatibility.
  • What kind of support can I expect from ManyMentors once I get matched?
ManyMentors will provide weekly prompts to encourage relevant discussion, materials for advanced mentee training, and quarterly check-ins from our Match Specialist to provide assistance and give feedback. Furthermore, the ManyMentors platform will serve as a rich source of information about opportunities and interesting topics that can help guide you towards reaching your goals.
  • What are the time requirements?
Depending on your level of interaction with your assigned mentor, mentoring can require as little as 15 minutes per week. Each week, you will receive a mentoring prompt to serve as a guide for discussions. For example, you may asked to share your future plans, or simply be alerted of noteworthy, current STEM topics that could make for great, relevant conversation. Depending on your location, there may also be monthly opportunities to interact with your mentor in-person. We expect our mentees to be matched with mentors for one full school year with the option to continue into the next school year.
  • How will I communicate with my mentor?
You will use ManyMentors’ innovative mobile app to communicate with your mentor. In some instances, you will have the opportunity to connect with your mentor in-person at monthly events.
  • How do I apply and how long until I’m matched?
Visit www.manymentors.org/apply to start creating a profile on our platform. Your initial profile will be reviewed by ManyMentors and if you are accepted, you will be asked to answer a few more questions, undergo background check and training before being matched. The entire process can be as short as 1 week! In the event that more time is required to complete this process, ManyMentors will inform you in a timely manner.
  • Do I have to attend a training session and undergo a background check?
Yes. It is critical to ensure you are properly trained to receive guidance for your mentor. Our interactive training and background check programs are available online and require less than 30 minutes to complete.
  • What qualities are we seeking in a mentee?
ManyMentors is seeking inqusitive high school or university-level students who are interested in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and see the value of having a mentor to answer questions. In addition, mentees must: - Be in reasonable academic standing (GPA 2.0+) - Have reliable and consistent access to the Internet
